Rangers to make final manager decision before Monday morning with terms agreed – Keith Jackson

Kevin Muscat and Philippe Clement expect to know if they have been successful in their bid to become Rangers manager by Monday morning, reports Keith Jackson.

Writing in the Daily Record (14 October), the reliable journalist reports that both candidates have already agreed a financial package with the Ibrox club ahead of potentially taking over as boss.

Now all that is left in the process is a final decision from chairman John Bennett and chief executive James Bisgrove, with both candidates expecting an answer before Monday morning.

“Sources at the club have insisted all along that chairman John Bennett and chief executive James Bisgrove will not be rushed into naming their man,” they wrote.

“But with Rangers about to re-start their league campaign at home to Hibs a week today, both Clement and Muscat expect to know the outcome one way or another before Monday morning.”

Finally

It’s been a long time coming for Rangers to get this appointment over the line, and the fact we’re so far in and there is still no standout candidate says a lot.

It can be deemed as a positive, that the candidates are so closely matched that the club are unsure who would be best and want to make sure things are done correctly before committing one way or another.

But it could also be a negative that the board are pondering on such a big decision and awaiting someone else to take responsibility, meaning we’re losing time for the new man to work with the players ahead of next Saturday’s clash with Hibernian.

Either way though, something must happen quickly and the fact that we’re now less than 48 hours away from finding out who the 19th manager of Rangers will be is good news.

Fans will get behind whoever is selected and their job remains huge, but with the right backing and ideas they can be the man to bring No.56 to Ibrox and topple Celtic.

In other Rangers news, personal terms agreed with new boss as final decision close.
