Rangers-linked manager Philippe Clement makes secret Saudi Arabia visit

Philippe Clement, who is a managerial target at Rangers, made a secret visit to Saudi Arabia to meet Al Shabab, according to Al-Riyadiah.

The Daily Record cited the Saudi outlet on Friday (13 October) to state that a four-year contract at Ibrox will be enough for Clement to accept the job.

Al-Riyadiah also claim he inspected the club’s facilities and met with the hierarchy over the preparation to sign a contract there.

Complications galore

Out-of-work Clement is clearly a man in demand and is being targeted by two sides who have them high up on their priority list.

The fact that he’s visiting Saudi Arabia means that he’s not yet made his decision on whether or not he wants to take over at Rangers.

Had it been a no to a move to the Middle East, he would not have wasted his time examining the facilities there and speaking to the hierarchy.

It remains to be seen what’s come from his meeting there as he will also be having talks with people at Ibrox about taking over.

What Rangers must not do is hire someone who’s not fully on board with the project as a big payday can see him jump ship in an instance.

It’s good that Clement wants a longer-term deal but he’s got to prove he deserves it if he does end up getting the job.

In other Rangers news, an award-winning manager has now asked his representatives to set up an interview with the Ibrox hierarchy as he aims to succeed Michael Beale.
