Rangers fans would ‘love to see’ Ibrox futures for loan duo Alex Lowry and Ianis Hagi

Rangers fans would “love to see” Alex Lowry and Ianis Hagi flourish under the next manager of the club, according to Daily Record journalist Jack Herrall.

The duo are currently out on loan from Ibrox, with Lowry playing for Scottish Premiership rivals Hearts and Hagi at La Liga club Alaves.

The Gers are currently searching for a new manager after Michael Beale was sacked following the club’s poor start to the season.

“When the new gaffer is appointed he’ll set about appraising his squad and identifying areas for improvement,” Herrall wrote for the Daily Record. “A glut of academy talent is out on loan but a couple of players who will expect to be in and around the first team are also currently plying their trade for different clubs.

“Alex Lowry is currently enjoying a solid start to his Tynecastle spell for Hearts with a dramatic late-winner against Killie at Rugby Park a highlight so far. Ianis Hagi, who missed over a year of football due to a knee injury, is currently at La Liga side Alaves but has only played less than 300 minutes so far.

“Ibrox fans would undoubtedly love to see both players flourish at the club, with youth players making good at their childhood clubs something all fans would want in the case of Lowry.”

Ibrox futures?

It is not only the futures of the on-loan duo that are up in the air, but indeed all players at Rangers, given how a new manager is expected to be running things very shortly.

The current squad was very much Beale’s, with the manager bringing in nine new players in the summer transfer window, as well as getting rid of a handful of unwanted faces.

Both Lowry and Hagi are in that latter category, but unlike the likes of Glen Kamara and Antonio Colak, for example, they have only left Glasgow temporarily.

It is not only up to the pair to show they can still cut it at Ibrox, but also up to the new man in the dugout. He will undoubtedly keep a close eye on the progress of the two players, and all the other players that are currently out on loan, with futures definitely not on the cards for all of them.
