Rangers: Chris Jack shares ‘final decision’ update on new manager search
Rangers will continue to hold talks with Kevin Muscat and Philippe Clement into the weekend before making a final decision on their next manager, according to journalist Chris Jack.
Yokohama F. Marinos manager Muscat and out-of-work former Monaco boss Clement are the two candidates remaining after the Gers whittled down a lengthy shortlist.
There had been suggestions that Rangers would formally announce Michael Beale’s successor on Friday (13 October), but that does not look like being the case.

In an update posted on Rangers Review on Friday (13 October), Jack said: “Rangers remain in discussions with Philippe Clement and Kevin Muscat as the Ibrox board close in on the appointment of their new manager.
“The Light Blues have been on the hunt for a boss since sacking Michael Beale almost two weeks ago and chairman John Bennett and James Bisgrove, the chief executive officer, held extensive interviews with candidates in London this week.
“And it is understood that those talks are now set to continue into the weekend before a final decision is made and Beale’s successor is able to sign on the dotted line at Ibrox in the coming days.”
Slowly but surely
Rangers’ search for Beale’s replacement has taken longer than anyone expected, but there is no harm in making sure they get the appointment spot on.
The international break has provided a chance to take stock and ensure the interview process has been as extensive as possible.
There have been contrasting reports as to who exactly the favourite to take over at Ibrox is, and it appears we may have to wait at least another couple of days yet before finding out who is appointed.

Muscat and Clement both have impressive CVs, and they clearly impressed the Gers board during the initial interview process as some other big names dropped out of the running.
As long as the new man is in place with a little time to spare before the visit of Hibernian on October 21, that is all that really matters.
In other Rangers news, the Gers have been told that a “baffling” decision could set them back years.
