Nenad Bjelica responds directly to speculation he could become next Rangers manager
Nenad Bjelica has refused to rule himself out of the running for the Rangers job after reports emerged he was a late candidate.
The Croatian boss was sacked by Trabzonspor in Turkey on Thursday after just six months in charge, and was linked with the post at Ibrox immediately (TEAMtalk, 11 October).
And when asked by Germanijak directly about the links to the post in Glasgow, Bjelica stopped short of confirming talks but admitted that he had been in contact with interested clubs since becoming a free agent again.
“I would not like to go into details,” he said.
“On Saturday, when the news broke that I was leaving Turkey, I had some contacts with interested clubs, they started calling and we’ll see what happens next.”
Wow
Well this would be the twist of all twists at Ibrox if the club dropped their process for someone who has just become available.
Most credible news outlets are reporting that the process is into the final stages already with the final two candidates being Kevin Muscat and Philippe Clement, with a final decision expected this week.

But Bjelica becoming available in the last 24 hours means that he is someone who may not have been considered before now, and it could throw a real spanner into the plans of the Ibrox board.
We’d be lying if we said we knew much about him other than the fact that he was just sacked six months into a job in Turkey, but if the club are truly committed to finding the best option then Rangers shouldn’t be ruling him out immediately.
Have a dig into him, have a conversation and move from there. He’s obviously keen on the role or he’d have ruled himself out immediately, so it’s one to keep an eye on for sure.
