The former Norwich man was ruled out for “three or four games” after picking up a knee injury in the defeat to Celtic on September 3 although he had suggested that it wasn’t as straightforward as initially suggested.

With the Light Blues undergoing the process of appointing a successor, Cantwell took to his personal Instagram account (10 October) to provide a cryptic update on when he could return to action, writing “soon” as he shared a video of his highlights at Ibrox so far.

New manager is in for a treat

It certainly seems as if Cantwell is ready and amped to return to action for Rangers after his latest social media message and what a major coup that could be for the Light Blues.

With a new manager possibly set to be announced before the conclusion of the international break, Rangers are certainly in for a testing few weeks afterwards for which their new boss will need his key men firing on all cylinders.

And Cantwell throughout his nine-month spell at Ibrox since his move in the January window has already become a household name at Ibrox through his unique and showstopping performances, even in defeats.

The former Norwich City man possesses an exciting brand of skills and abilities that any manager would be thrilled to work with, as Beale has ever since he signed him.

And there is certainly a case to argue that Cantwell’s injury certainly played a part in Rangers’ levels and performance dropping which ultimately led to Beale’s sacking.

The 25-year-old brings an enthusiasm, aggression and fluidity to the Light Blues game that so few players are able to offer and whoever comes in to replace Beale is certainly in for a real treat when Cantwell returns.
