Rangers manager news as concrete proposal now made to Philippe Clement, decision to be made soon
Rangers have made a very concrete proposal to appoint Philippe Clement as Michael Beale’s successor at Ibrox, according to Nieuwsblad Sport.
The Belgium news outlet reports (10 October) that the former Monaco coach is now in “pole position” to become the new Rangers manager with a decision set to be made very soon.
News also emerged on Tuesday from Saudi Arabia which claimed that the Light Blues presented a four-year offer to Clement to take over the vacant role [Al-Riyadiah, 10 October] before Rangers Review journalist Chris Jack shared that a decision is yet to be taken by management.
However, according to latest news in Belgium, Rangers have now made a concrete proposal to the 49-year-old.
Another twist
Jack shared on Tuesday that Clement was not going to travel to Glasgow with the Rangers bosses yet to make a decision on their preferred candidate, but now there’s yet another twist from Belgium.
It may appear as if Rangers are telling their closest sources that no decision has been made but are working behind the scenes to appoint the Belgian manager as their preferred choice and what an intriguing appointment it could well be.

The next person in the dugout needs to be there for the long haul if the club are to have any chance of success on the pitch and it seems as if John Bennett and James Bisgrove have chosen Clement to be that man.
The pressure is certainly on for any new managerial appointment when he walks in through the door and whether Clement can make the swift impact the club needs to fire on all cylinders again, remains to be seen.
However, the 49-year-old is certainly an intriguing name and can count himself unlucky to be sacked by Monaco this summer after their failure to reach the Champions League but this Ibrox challenge is one he will grab with both hands.
Clement was known for his attractive and progressive style of football in France, traits which the Gers fans are really desperate for right now so it will be interesting to see how he deals with the immediate demands for a turnaround with the Gers seven points behind Celtic in the league.
