Celtic set to respond to Rangers proposal amid growing discord

Celtic are understood to have made their decision and are set to respond to the Rangers proposal for 800 away tickets at Parkhead, per the Scottish Daily Mail.

The newspaper reported in its print edition on Wednesday (11 October, Page 38) that there is growing discord among clubs over away fans and whether or not they will support a rule guaranteeing a minimum number of travelling supporters for each game.

As things stand, neither Old Firm side allows their away fans at games.

End this

It is beyond ridiculous that this is still continuing and the SPFL should just mandate a minimum number of away fans per game.

The entire point of being the travelling support is to be like the extra player, especially in hostile environments that derby games create.

If players are asked whether or not they would want their away fans cheering them on, they’re always going to respond in the affirmative.

In Old Firms, policing is always ramped up and surely with away fans coming in that will be put to the test even more.

However, it’s not like both clubs do not have the funds to ensure that no untoward incidents take place and hopefully, a resolution is reached quickly.

Cetlic appear unwilling to take the high road and it may be time for the governing body to intervene and end this farce once and for all.

In other Rangers news, an award-winning manager has now asked his representatives to set up an interview with the Ibrox hierarchy as he aims to succeed Michael Beale.
