Rangers make wise decision amid new manager hunt as Sky Sports update emerges

The powers that be at Rangers have a huge decision on their hands in naming a replacement for Michael Beale, who was understandably removed from his role amid the club’s poor start to the new season.

Beale had a lot to live up to at Ibrox, particularly after a big summer spending spree, but his players – old and new – failed to live up to expectation.

Midfielder Steven Davis is now the interim boss, with the temporary man winning once and losing once in his first two matches in charge.

The Northern Irishman will be working hard on the training ground over the current international break, while those behind the scenes will be working hard on finding a more permanent figure for the dugout.

As per Sky Sports, however, there is seemingly no rush to appoint new manager, with the club eager not to appoint the wrong person.

“Rangers have been whittling down an extensive shortlist that has been in place for months, as part of the club’s succession planning process,” according to Sky Sports.

“While a new manager could be named later this week, there is every chance the process may extend into next week with the club’s focus on making the correct long-term appointment rather than rushing the process.”

Not all decisions behind the scenes at Ibrox have been wise in recent years, but this is certainly a sensible one, with another managerial failure simply unacceptable.

Steven Gerrard, Giovanni van Bronckhorst and now Beale have all come and gone in recent years, with stability undoubtedly needed at the Glasgow giants moving forward.
