Rangers fans react to Frank Lampard links as ‘biggest club in Scotland’ claim made live on talkSPORT
Rangers fans believe they are the “biggest club in Scotland,” and do not think Frank Lampard should be their next manager, according to talkSPORT journalist Alex Crook.
The former Chelsea and Everton boss was interested in replacing Michael Beale after his dismissal at Ibrox [BBC Sport, 3 October].
According to Sky Sports (6 October), however, the manager is not under consideration by Rangers for the vacant role.

“I think Rangers fans see themselves, still certainly they would argue, as the biggest club in Scotland,” Crook said live on talkSPORT. “Obviously Celtic supporters would argue otherwise.
“They believe that they can compete in Europe, although you look at the result against Aris Limassol and you would question that as well.
“But I think Rangers fans see themselves at a certain level, and they don’t think Frank Lampard would be good enough for them.”

Wrong option?
Lampard has had a pretty torrid time in his brief managerial career so far, perhaps aside from his time at Derby County.
Things did not go to plan for the former England star at both Everton and Chelsea, and those spells are undoubtedly what is putting off Rangers supporters.
But those fans are seemingly running out of suitable options to replace Beale, who unsurprisingly lost his job after a hugely disappointing home defeat to Aberdeen.
That came after losses against Celtic and Kilmarnock in the Scottish Premiership, and a hugely disappointing defeat to PSV in the Champions League.
Fans expect success at Ibrox, and the Gers are expected to constantly challenge Celtic for major trophies, which has not been the case in recent years.
Whoever is next in the dugout, a huge challenge awaits, but there is also a real opportunity to become an Ibrox hero, with plenty of trophies still up for grabs this season.
