Rangers midfielder Jose Cifuentes may be dropped for Hibs SPFL clash

Rangers need to axe Jose Cifuentes from the playing XI against Hibs when football returns after the international break next weekend.

The Ecuador international started in the 3-0 victory on Sunday, 8 October, but it was not a display he would’ve been proud of.

There’s a very good chance that by the time the Hibs game comes by, a new manager will be in charge, but his performance over the weekend will not have impressed anyone.

According to Sofascore, Cifuentes was woeful in terms of winning the ball back from ground duels as he lost all five of his attempts.

He failed to complete any of the two take-ons he attempted too and he looked shaky on numerous occasions he had the ball at his feet.

He lost possession on 12 occasions and most of his passes appeared to be played safe as there were no key passes made by the 24-year-old.

He didn’t win a single tackle and was even dribbled past on one occasion which is perhaps why Steven Davis decided to bring him off.

Cifuentes is undoubtedly a talented footballer but he’s got to improve if he is to start regularly for Rangers from now onwards.

Hopefully, on the other side of the international break, most of the injured players will be back in contention and thus the options will increase and the 24-year-old won’t be a default starter for Gers.

In other Rangers news, an award-winning manager has now asked his representatives to set up an interview with the Ibrox hierarchy as he aims to succeed Michael Beale.
