James Tavernier makes Scottish Premiership Team of the Week after Rangers 3-0 win v St Mirren with WhoScored ratings revealed
Rangers enjoyed a much-improved performance in the Scottish Premier League as they raced to a 3-0 victory over St Mirren on Sunday 8 October.
Two goals from Ibrox fan favourite James Tavernier and Abdallah Sima’s seventh strike for his new club meant managerless Rangers leapfrogged their opponents into second place in the Scottish Premiership.
And WhoScored announced on Monday (9 October) their Scottish Premier League team of the week with James Tavernier registering the “second highest” rating for his heroic performance with an impressive 9.22/10.

He does it again
Tavernier has been the Gers hero on countless occasions over the years, with the defender shining at both ends of the pitch during his lengthy spell in Glasgow.
And just when Rangers and their fans were in need of a result and performance against St Mirren, amidst all the pressure and uncertainty at Ibrox right now, Tavernier rose up to the occasion once again.

The Ibrox legend drew plenty of criticism since Michael Beale’s sacking on 1 October for his performances, but he certainly wasn’t the only one nor was he the main culprit.
With the club wanting to announce their new manager in the next week or so, Tavernier ensured the club will be heading into the international with optimism and high hopes.
However, the fact that Rangers needed their right-back to bail them out of trouble once again certainly speaks volumes over their under-par attacking options right now, bar Sima of course.
Fans and indeed interim manager can have no complaints over loan signing Sima, who has regularly been among the goals since joining, but the likes of Danilo, Sam Lammers and Cyriel Dessers have all struggled.
Whoever comes in at Ibrox has a huge job on his hands getting them all to fire on all cylinders but his job will be made a whole lot easier if Tavernier continues on from this heroic showing.
In other Rangers news, Bisgrove may have to let the cash fly for one exciting trophy-winning managerial candidate who looks a certainty to succeed at Ibrox.
