Chris Sutton names Rangers and Celtic players in SPFL Team of the Week

Chris Sutton has named Rangers and Celtic players in his SPFL Team of the Week with both sides picking up wins over the weekend.

The ex Hoops striker included James Tavernier in his team after his performance in the 3-0 win over St Mirren and loanee Alex Lowry as well.

Celtic’s Luis Palma, Reo Hatateand Liam Scales also made Sutton’s XI.

Decent display

The performance of the team was underwhelming and the new manager will have to sort out a number of things once he arrives at the helm.

Had it been 11 v 11, a different outcome was certainly on the cards and that’s perhaps an indicator that it’s not just the manager to be blamed.

Tavernier’s performance was decent and it’s fair to say he was among the better defenders this past weekend.

Rangers

Hopefully, he and the players use the international break well and work on why things have not panned out as they should’ve this season.

Tavernier is the leader in the dressing room so he’s got to explain the responsibilities to his players before the new manager comes in.

The gap from Celtic is a big one but it’s not insurmountable and a focused bunch of players can certainly go out to get the job done.

In other Rangers news, an award-winning manager has now asked his representatives to set up an interview with the Ibrox hierarchy as he aims to succeed Michael Beale.
