John Park goes off the rails at Rangers as Ibrox recruitment torn to shreds

John Park has gone off the rails following the recent signings at Rangers, according to Michael Gannon.

Writing on page 58 of the Sunday Mail on 8 October, the journalist said the senior scout had a track record of finding cheap gems when he was previously at Celtic.

But since joining the Gers in 2022, Gannon hasn’t been convinced by his recommendations at Ibrox, claiming that only Jack Butland and Abdallah Sima look “equipped to handle life at Ibrox” of the nine players brought in during the summer window.

Not good enough

The recruitment from Rangers has been far from good enough over the past year since Park was handed a senior scouting role at Ibrox.

He previously spent nine years at Celtic, where he was key behind the scenes in bringing in some top talents, including the likes of Virgil van Dijk.

But he has had nowhere near that kind of success so far for the Gers, with there being huge question marks over a number of the summer recruits.

Rangers

Whether the players that were brought in during the latest window were Park’s recommendations isn’t clear, but you would think he had some kind of say in those deals taking place.

The club seriously need to get on top of their recruitment strategy moving forward because they are in serious danger of falling behind in that department based on their recent business.

In other Rangers news, an official club partner was left disgusted by what the Gers players did against Aris.
