Rangers manager update as Scott Parker makes Ibrox board request to representatives

Former Fulham and Bournemouth manager Scott Parker appears to be solidifying his interest in the Rangers job, according to Football Scotland.

The media outlet reported on Friday (6 October) that he told his representatives to set up an interview with the Gers board.

It’s understood he’s keen on taking over the reins at Ibrox to be the next permanent successor to Michael Beale.

Underwhelming

Parker’s record at other clubs thus far has been underwhelming so there’s nothing to suggest he’ll be the right fit for Rangers.

He may have two Championship Manager of the Month awards to his name but he’s not someone who instils confidence at a side currently in the dumps.

Gers need an inspiring figure who can take this club to the next level, establish a clear footballing philosophy and get the fans onside.

There are other well-respected and talented managers who’d be willing to move to Ibrox and those are options that need to be considered.

It remains to be seen whether Parker does get the interview he wants because the club have already held talks with multiple other managers.

A lot can change until an official announcement is made but it’s fair to say that Parker is not a frontrunner as of now.
