Kevin Muscat talks update emerges as Rangers eye manager as potential Michael Beale successor

Kevin Muscat has held a Zoom call with the Rangers hierarchy as they look for the next manager to replace Michael Beale, according to Football Scotland.

The media outlet reported on Friday (6 October) that both parties were sounded out over what each other were looking for.

It’s understood that the Englishman is open to taking over at the helm at Ibrox and is among the candidates being considered.

Decent option

If Rangers do end up narrowing it down to three names, there’s a very good chance that their former player is on the list.

The 50-year-old has a decent reputation and unlike some of the other managers linked, has experience of winning league titles in different countries.

He’s won the A-League Championship on two occasions and the Premiership once and also has won the J1 League title during his time at Yokohama F. Marinos.

He appears to be a no nonsense figure who could sort the mess out in the dressing room and quickly isolate players he feels are having a bad influence on the rest of the squad.

He will also play a good brand of football that will get the fans onboard as they’re currently frustrated by the brand of football.

It remains to be seen who the club ends up going for but they need to undergo a thorough process before narrowing in on their candidate.
