Reliable journalist shares if Rangers will interview Birmingham City manager John Eustace to replace Michael Beale
Rangers are not expected to interview Birmingham City boss John Eustace for the vacant manager’s position at Ibrox, reports Alan Nixon.
Writing on his personal Twitter account (4 October), the newspaper journalist reports that the club are expected to interview around half a dozen or so candidates for the role after Michael Beale was sacked.
But after being asked by a fan if Eustace would be among those, Nixon simply replied with a one-word response to shut that talk down quickly.
No shock
Eustace was someone who was linked with the role even before Beale was sacked, so it’s no surprise that he was linked again when the job became available.
But it’s expected that he would command a “sizeable compensation fee” to get out of St Andrews with a contract that runs until 2025.
Rangers spent big in the summer and in the last 12 months alone have paid off Giovanni van Bronckhorst and his staff and have now had to do the same for Beale and his staff.

That almost certainly rules him out of the running, and the leading candidates seem to be Kevin Muscat, Derek McInnes and Frank Lampard on this occasion who would all be cheaper or even free.
It’s going to be a long process so don’t expect things to happen overnight, but it almost certainly won’t be Eustace coming through the doors at Ibrox as the new manager.
