Rangers will speak to Pascal Jansen and Kjetil Knutsen about vacant manager’s job

Rangers will speak to both Pascal Jansen and Kjetil Knutsen about their vacant manager’s position before they make a final decision, reports Alan Nixon.

Writing on his Patreon account (5 October), The Sun journalist reports that Ibrox bosses will speak to both the AZ Alkmaar and Bodo/Glimt bosses about replacing Michael Beale.

Both managers are interested in the role and would be willing to leave their current jobs for a chance to step in, which would be a “coup” for Rangers.

Rangers

“Rangers will speak to AZ Alkmaar coach Pascal Jansen and Norwegian Kjetil Knutsen before picking their next boss,” he wrote.

“Jansen has done impressive work in Holland and is keen on the post as he looks to come to Britain.

“And Knutsen has excelled with Bodo Glimt and would also move to the Scottish giants if he gets the nod.

“It would be a coup to land Muscat, Jansen or Knutsen who are all in jobs and apparently willing to move.”

Push

It seems like Rangers are beginning to push forward with their plans to hire a successor for Beale and now we know who the main candidates are.

Frank Lampard and Kevin Muscat are said to have already held interviews with James Bisgrove about potentially coming in, but the club are also looking to speak with Knutsen who is currently leading the Norwegian division with Bodo/Glimt and battling in the Europa Conference League.

Rangers

As for Jansen he has publicly ruled himself out of the running but clearly the club are still interested in his services and that wouldn’t be the case if they weren’t getting some signs from behind the scenes that he was interested.

Fans aren’t particularly excited by the names being touted around right now but we have to trust that the board will move to fix their issues after getting it wrong twice in two years already. They can’t afford to get it wrong again.
