Rangers fans can finally breathe sigh of relief as ‘unmatched’ Brendan Rodgers statistic emerges

Rangers and Celtic have long battled it out for the bragging rights in Scottish football, with the latter winning that battle in recent times.

The Bhoys have outclassed the Gers over the last couple of seasons, with their superiority on the pitch continuing into the new campaign.

Brendan Rodgers’s side currently top the Scottish Premiership table, with their fierce rivals seven points behind in third.

It is the same scenario in European football, with Celtic competing in the Champions League and Rangers competing in the Europa League.

The Gers did, however, experience Europe’s premier club competition last season, but it was a campaign to forget as they conceded 22 goals and scored just two. That goal difference of -22 is the worst of any side who have lost all six matches in the history of the competition, as per the Daily Star (2 November).

Such unwanted history was a major blow to fans of the club, but they can now breathe a sigh of relief given how Celtic boss Rodgers has stolen the limelight from them.

Unfortunately for the Northern Irishman, his club’s 2-1 defeat to Lazio on Wednesday (4 October) means he is now statistically the worst manager to have managed 20 or more Champions League matches, with his two wins unmatched, according to beIN SPORTS.

The two Scottish giants are always going to be up against it against the best clubs in Europe, and that has certainly been the case in their recent history in the Champions League.

This season Celtic have been drawn against Lazio, Atletico Madrid and Feyenoord, with Rangers having met Liverpool, Napoli and Ajax during that forgettable campaign.

In other Rangers news, journalist Graham Spiers has shared a Gers “balance sheets” view as 10,000 Ibrox crowds are mooted following the departure of Michael Beale.
