Abdallah Sima hands Steven Davis first easy decision as Rangers manager ahead of Aris Limassol clash
Steven Davis has it all to do at Rangers after he was appointed as the club’s interim manager following the sacking of Michael Beale.
The midfielder will have plenty of difficult decisions to make in the dugout during his temporary tenure, the first of which will be who to play in the clash with Aris Limassol.
There will be several Gers men who will be eager to impress the new man in charge, with many players set to benefit from the change in the dugout.

But one player who may have already forced his way into Davis’s thinking is on-loan attacker Abdallah Sima. The Brighton man has potentially given his manager an easy decision to make in terms of his starting line-up thanks to the 22-year-old’s recent Europa League record.
Not only did Sima score the only goal of the game in the club’s opening group stage win over Real Betis, but he also netted three for former side Slavia Prague in the 2020/21 campaign, meaning the forward has four goals in his last five Europa League group stage appearances, as per BBC Sport (4 October).

Such statistics may not enter the mind of Davis, but he could certainly do a lot worse than starting a player with a proven track record in what is always a very difficult competition to compete in.
Moreover, out of all the attacking summer signings at Ibrox, Sima has perhaps impressed most, with the Brighton ace scoring five times from his 13 appearances in all competitions. That figure places him top of the Rangers scoring charts this season, according to BBC Sport.
In other Rangers news, a Sky Sports pundit has reacted to the appointment of Davis as interim manager, with a “huge gamble” claim made.
