Steven Davis shares Rangers injury boost as Nicolas Raskin and Kemar Roofe set to feature v Aris Limassol

Rangers pair Kemar Roofe and Nicolas Raskin have travelled with the squad for Thursday’s Europa League clash against Aris Limassol and are likely to play some part, Steve Davis has confirmed.

The Light Blues interim manager, speaking ahead of the game on Thursday in his press conference (4 October) has confirmed that both players are available for selection after recent injuries.

30-year-old Roofe suffered a groin injury Rangers’ 4-0 Viaplay Cup win over Livingston on Wednesday (27 September) while Raskin has spent the past two weeks on the sidelines with a calf problem.

Welcome boost

Rangers are in a serious state of flux right now, following Beale’s sacking on Sunday (1 October) and the responsibility has unexpectedly now fallen on Davis’ shoulders to carry them out of this rut.

The decision to part ways with Beale came as no surprise, with the Gers suffering a hugely disappointing 3-1 defeat to Aberdeen shortly before the decision was made.

Such results are unacceptable, particularly given how it was at Ibrox and how the Dons are struggling this season.

Rangers face some crucial games ahead both domestically and in Europe but to appoint a current player who has no managerial experience at such a level is surprising and could be very costly that’s why Davis will need all the quality he can muster at his disposal.

And the news received regarding Roofe and Raskin’s returns from injury certainly comes as a welcome boost to the Light Blues who are in desperate need of some light at the end of the tunnel.

Both players certainly provide unique qualities to a squad looking fairly depleted and devoid of confidence right now and a win over Aris in Cyprus could well turn the fortunes in their favour again as the Rangers bosses mull over who should be their next manager.
