Rangers board to enter talks as four main contenders revealed in fresh update
Rangers are likely to enter talks with the four managers on their shortlist as Michael Beale’s replacement, according to The 4th Official.
As reported on Patreon (3 October), Frank Lampard, Pascal Jansen, Philippe Clement and Kevin Muscat are the candidates for the role, while the club “sent feelers” for replacements while Beale remained in charge.
All those shortlisted have an initial interest in the job, but Rangers will most likely hold discussions with all before making a decision.

Closing in
Should this report be believed, the Gers have honed in on their targets.
They clearly anticipated Beale’s departure, and seeming handed the Englishman the courtesy of waiting until his next loss before giving him the boot. However, the Aberdeen defeat forced their hand, and now a hunt for a new manager begins.
Each of these targets could prove to be a successful option, but all come with their own pros and cons. What should be reassuring to the fanbase is that the club are taking decisive action.
With key fixtures on the horizon, the club should bring in a replacement as quickly as possible. Two of those shortlisted, Lampard and Clement, are currently unemployed so agreeing a deal with them could prove quick work. Lampard has significant experience in the Premier League with Chelsea and Everton, while Clement brought back-to-back titles to Club Brugge between 2019 and 2021.

Negotiating for either Jansen or Muscat may provide a financial obstacle, but per a report from 90min (3 October), only the AZ Alkmaar coach’s compensation package could pose an issue for the Gers.
The hierarchy will, of course, get a much better sense of who would be the best candidate following any talks, but the fanbase will want them in as soon as possible.
In other Rangers news, one European option is “very interested” with the fans unimpressed by an early front-runner.
