Frank Lampard leads race to become Rangers manager after London talks
Frank Lampard has held talks with Rangers in London about their managerial vacancy, and is a leading possibility for the club on their list of live candidates, according to Alan Nixon.
The Sun journalist shared the news via his Patreon on 4 October, where he reported that the former Chelsea and Everton boss is keen to return to management with the Scottish giants.
Nixon claims Lampard and his family have been Rangers fans for years, and he provides the most local option for the club with most other targets based abroad, with the face-to-face talks considered a bonus.

Emerging as the front-runner
With this update, it appears Lampard is emerging ahead of the other candidates as the front-runner for the Ibrox post, and the fact he is eager to return to management should mean talks will go smoothly.
The fact that he is not currently in a job could also provide a boost to his chances, with no severance payment needed to bring him to Ibrox, unlike what would be the case for other managers on Rangers’ shortlist including AZ manager Pascal Jansen and Bodo/Glimt boss Kjeli Knudsen.
Nixon shares that the 45-year-old’s CV will have taken a blow following his dismissal at both Everton and Chelsea, which could be a cause for concern at Ibrox, but the face-to-face talks in London would have allowed the boss to plead his case.

There are thought to be at least six other managers in the running for the Rangers job who will be considered for the interview process, but early signs are beginning to suggest Lampard could be the stand-out choice.
