Derek McInnes compensation update emerges in Rangers hunt to bring Kilmarnock boss back to Ibrox
Derek McInnes’ compensation fee would not be an issue if Rangers decided to bring him back to Ibrox, according to 90mins.
The online outlet reported (3 October) that the current Kilmarnock boss is held in high regard at Rangers, but a compensation fee to terminate his Killies contract would be within the club’s means.
While former Chelsea boss Graham Potter has ruled himself out, Rangers are also considering AZ Alkmaar head coach Pascal Jansen and Yokohama F. Marinos manager Kevin Muscat, the latter also a former Ibrox man.

Useful
Having spent a lot of money on Michael Beale-inspired signings, the club will be reluctant to spend much more money dealing with his dismissal.
Rangers are keeping busy trying to identify a replacement for the Englishman, with Steven Davis taking temporary responsibilities. Potter may be keen for his next role to be slightly more relaxed, rather than coming to the anxious environment in Glasgow.
Jansen could be a possibility, with the report claiming he would be happy to talk to the club regarding the position, but his compensation package could pose issues.

While McInnes was more of a squad player for Rangers in his playing days, his five-year stint at Ibrox shows that he is familiar with the demands of the fanbase and the pressure that comes with it.
His Kilmarnock side have had a tricky start to the league, with their only win coming against Rangers themselves on the opening day of the season. However, he does know what it takes to beat Celtic, with his Killies upsetting the Hoops in the League Cup.
McInnes is a sensible option financially and in terms of experience, but a decision will need to be made sooner rather than later.
In other Rangers news, the Gers like a “very interested” manager candidate with fans unhappy with pursuing Kevin Muscat.
