Rangers: talkSPORT host rages at Frank Lampard development live on air

Andy Goldstein has blasted Frank Lampard for his record at other clubs after he has been linked with the Rangers job.

Speaking on talkSPORT on Tuesday (3 September), the host said the Englishman has “failed” at every club he’s been at before being considered as Michael Beale’s replacement at Ibrox.

Earlier on Tuesday, talkSPORT reported that Lampard is being considered by the Gers.

He pointed out that the 45-year-old has the worst ratio of any Blues manager to have managed more than three games, recording an alarming win ratio of just 9 per cent.

“At every club he’s been to, in my opinion, he failed,” said Goldstein. “He failed at Derby – his brief was to get them into the Premier League and he failed. He failed at Chelsea, he failed at Everton.

“And at Chelsea, they finished in the bottom half. It was the first time that happened since 1996. They had their lowest points tally, the least amount of goals ever scored and, out of all the Chelsea managers that have managed Chelsea for more than three games, he’s got the worst win ratio – nine per cent.

“I would say that any manager who is looking to rebuild his career, it’s a great opportunity to do that up north. The worry would be if I was Frank Lampard is if you go there and fail, you imagine that’s it – he’s done.”

Question marks

There are huge question marks over Lampard and whether he is the right man to take Rangers forward on the back of his recent experiences as a manager.

There is no doubt that he was an incredible player, but he hasn’t actually achieved or won anything since he took on his first managerial job at Derby.

Although he did reasonably well at Everton to begin with, it quickly turned sour as the club were dragged into a relegation battle before he was relieved of his duties in January.

Rangers

Lampard then returned to Chelsea and did an extremely poor job in his second stint in charge at Stamford Bridge, recording just a 9 per cent win ratio.

There is nothing to suggest he could bring success to the Light Blues, as they need an experienced manager who can deliver quick success and build for the future.

In other Rangers news, Chris Jack has raged at a “shambolic” incident that took place against Aberdeen.
