Jim White shares ‘almost irresistible’ new Rangers manager update live on talkSPORT as big name mentioned
Jim White admits he finds Neil Warnock “almost irresistible” after he was mooted to be the next Rangers manager.
Rangers sacked Michael Beale on Sunday (1 October) and a heap of names have since been linked with the vacancy.
White’s co-host on talkSPORT Simon Jordan told the radio station on Monday (2 October) that even though Warnock is 72 and has only just left his job at Huddersfield in the English Championship, he’d be someone who could steady the ship in Govan.

Speaking on talkSPORT, as shown on YouTube on Tuesday (3 October, 3:59), White said: “Simon, you’ve been in this position umpteen times. You know what it takes to try to pinpoint the right person.
“Is there a name? Is there a name on your mind?
“I know you’re a big Neil Warnock fan and I agree with you. There’s something about Warnock I find almost irresistible. When he goes somewhere, by god he’ll change it. He will change it for the good – for the better.
“Would he top your list or is somebody up there with him?”
Ex-Crystal Palace owner Jordan admits he doesn’t know and that he doubts Warnock would be a good long-term fit for Rangers despite previously backing his friend for the job at Ibrox.
Household name
Is there anybody in British football who’s unfamiliar with Warnock?
He’s been there, done that and got the t-shirt when it comes to managing in England having taken charge of 112 Premier League matches and 803 matches in the second tier of English football.
He’s managed a big club down south too in Leeds United while Sheffield United, Crystal Palace and Cardiff are sizeable clubs within their own rights.
We doubt that anything would shirk him about the job at Ibrox but what’s the point in hiring him, seriously?
Jordan mooted Warnock but the ex-Palace chief even admitted that the Englishman wouldn’t be a long-term appointment for Rangers Football Club.
He’s getting on a bit now – he’d be the first to admit that – and he left Huddersfield last month in the mire with just two wins in seven Championship games this season.
There’s no point even trying to go for Warnock. If it was March, the season was dead and we needed someone to tide us over then it makes sense but in these circumstances, no way.
