James Bisgrove makes first contact for Ryan Lowe in Rangers manager news
Preston North End boss Ryan Lowe has emerged as a “shock contender” to become the new Rangers manager at Ibrox, according to the Daily Record.
According to the UK news publication (3 October), Rangers chief executive James Bisgrove has already made “tentative enquiries” over the financial outlay required to lure the highly-rated 45-year-old manager who has undergoing a great job at Deepdale.
It’s understood Bisgrove has sounded out contacts down south over Lowe’s availability after Michael Beale was sacked on Sunday (1 October) following their disappointing 3-1 defeat to Aberdeen a day earlier.

Highly-rated option
Lowe is indeed a “shock contender” for the role at Ibrox but certainly not in a negative way and given the job he’s done at Preston so far and Plymouth Argyle before, he certainly feels ready for a bigger role elsewhere.
North End are riding high in third spot of the English Championship after their best start to a league season since 1928/29 with six wins from nine league games already this season while he also won promotion with Plymouth from League Two before taking the reins at Deepdale two years ago.

Lowe has built up a reputation for playing an attractive brand of football wherever he’s been and that has certainly shown through Preston’s brilliant start this season.
Rangers desperately need a new manager in, one capable of coming in immediately and making an instant impact at Ibrox but whether Lowe can do that instantly is another matter entirely.
Steven Davis has already been confirmed as the interim manager which means Rangers may not make an appointment until during the international break with two games to come before then.
Bisgrove and the other Light Blues bosses will be hoping the club are in a steady and confident position before then because their appointment simply has to hit the ground running with Old Firm rivals Celtic already seven points clear of them at the top of the Scottish Premiership.
In other Rangers news, David Edgar has revealed that the Light Blues may take their time to make their next appointment at Ibrox.
