Rangers: Non-negotiable terms emerge in bid to hire favourite Pascal Jansen
Rangers would have to give Pascal Jansen time to grow as a manager if they were to hire the AZ Alkmaar manager to succeed Michael Beale, according to the Daily Record.
The newspaper reported on Monday (2 October, 03:31pm) that Jansen, 50, is one of the favourites to be next in charge at Ibrox after Beale was sacked on Sunday (1 October).
It is understood, however, that Jansen has only recently signed a contract extension at Eredivisie side AZ that runs until 2025.

The Daily Record claims it’s “non-negotiable” that Rangers would need to allow Jansen the time to develop his budding managerial career in Govan if they were to hire him because he only stepped up to senior management at AZ in 2020.
Talented new manager
Jansen isn’t a name that many fans of British football will have heard of despite him being born in London in 1973 to English and Dutch parents.
The former Ajax and AZ youth player barely had a career as a professional footballer but his coaching career has seen him rise through the ranks at Vitesse and Sparta Rotterdam in the Netherlands and AL Jaxzira and Al Wahda in the UAE.
PSV hired him in 2013 and he managed their youth team from 2015 to 2-17 before moving to AZ and becoming a coach and eventually their manager in December 2020.

AZ finished third in the Eredivisie in the season Jansen took over, fifth the season after and the round of 16 in the Europa Conference League and last season, they finished fourth and made the semi-finals of the Conference League where they were beaten by eventual winners West Ham.
Jansen has clearly done well in Alkmaar but Rangers is no doubt a step up for him.
He’s more experienced than Beale, of course. But we don’t think his experience is quite enough at this point.
Rangers are a huge club and should have the status to attract someone a lot more reputable.
In other Rangers news, a league-leading manager has emerged as a “live option” for the Light Blues to hire.
