Alex Crook backs ‘right personality’ Kevin Muscat to succeed Michael Beale at Rangers
Kevin Muscat is the “right personality” to succeed Michael Beale as Rangers manager, according to talkSPORT presenter Alex Crook.
Rangers are on the lookout for a new boss after bringing an end to Beale’s 10-month reign at Ibrox on Sunday [1 October].
A number of names have been linked with the job, including current Yokohama F. Marinos head coach Muscat.
talkSPORT reported on Monday [2 October] that Muscat is interested in discussing the job with Rangers – a move Crook believes makes sense.
“This feels like it would tick a lot of boxes,” he posted on Twitter [2 October].
“Former #RangersFC player, has won titles in Australia and Japan (despite having a mid-table budget).
“The right personality to take on such a big club as well.”
Makes sense
After the departure of Beale – a decision that has been inevitable pretty much since the 1-0 loss to Celtic a month ago – Gers fans can start to get excited about the next appointment.
The likes of Graham Potter, Jesse Marsch, Ralph Hasenhuttl and Scott Parker have all been mentioned as possible candidates to succeed Beale.
Muscat is considered the bookies’ favourite, however, and he does seem to be a good fit for the Gers on the face of it.

There are many similarities with Ange Postecoglou at Celtic – who it must be conceded was a good appointment – as both are of Australian heritage and have learned their trade in Japan.
The 50-year-old has previous experience of playing at Ibrox, too, having spent a season with the club in 2002-03, and he has also had success across his decade-long managerial career.
Given he is also supposedly eager to speak to Gers chiefs, this is an appointment that makes plenty of sense.
In other Rangers news, the Light Blues could announce a new manager by the end of Monday [2 September].
