Pascal Jansen also interested in Rangers job after Kevin Muscat update at Ibrox
Pascal Jansen is interested in the vacant Rangers manager position alongside Kevin Muscat following Michael Beale’s sacking, according to talkSport.
The broadcaster reported on its website on Monday (2 October) that the AZ Alkmaar manager is interested in taking over the reins at Ibrox following the decision to relieve Beale of his duties following the Gers’ disappointing start to the season.
Former defender Muscat, who played for the Light Blues between 2002 and 2003, featuring 24 times has emerged as the initial frontrunner for the role and would be seriously interested in talking to the Ibrox hierarchy about the vacant position.

Discussing the current situation, Phil Spencer and Alex Crook wrote: “Kevin Muscat would be interested in speaking to Rangers about becoming their new manager, talkSPORT understands. AZ Alkmaar boss Pascal Jansen is also keen on the position, with his side currently second in the Eredivisie.”
Proven
Rangers need a manager who is going to return the Scottish Premiership title to Ibrox sooner rather than later and while that is going to be an incredibly tough task this season, they need a proven winner to return the good feeling to the blue side of Glasgow.
Jansen has shown he is capable of impressing, even when not necessarily managing the biggest club in his country and has made Alkmaar a competitive force in the Eredivisie to compete with the likes of PSV and Ajax. He also led the Dutch side into the semi-finals of the Europa Conference League.

It feels like the Gers need to get this appointment right to keep the fans on their side as currently, Ibrox is becoming a toxic place for players and fans alike as the supporters are becoming frustrated with constantly being second best to their biggest rivals.
This team has been assembled in Beale’s image throughout the summer transfer window and whoever takes over has to find a way of making it competitive once again. Under Beale it has looked like a collective of 11 individuals with very little connecting them and whoever takes over at Ibrox whether Jansen or Muscat needs to find a way to get them playing as a team.
This decision has to be right.
