Michael Beale sends overnight message after Rangers sack confirmed

Former Rangers boss Michael Beale has broken his silence following his dismissal at Ibrox, as he called for the fans and players to get behind interim boss Steven Davies in the coming games.

The Englishman thanked the fans, the club, the players, the board and everyone behind the scenes at Ibrox for their support during his tenure, and wished the club well for the future in a very respectful statement.

Beale has called for the support of the new boss and claimed that, with so much yet to play for this season, he retains a strong belief in the group of players he leaves behind.

Taking to his personal Instagram account overnight on 2 October, Beale wrote a heartfelt message to the fans and the club following his exit, sharing: “Thank you Rangers FC, to everyone behind the scenes at the training ground and Ibrox, to the board, staff, fans and all the players.

“I will always follow and support the club from afar and wish you every success. Now is the time for everyone to unite fully behind Steven Davies and the team in the coming games.

“There is still so much to play for this season and I have a strong belief in this group of players. Thank you and good luck. MB.”

A shame things ended the way they did

This statement put out by the former boss is a classy touch. While he may not be leaving on the best of terms with the fans after frustrations grew at Ibrox, there is a recognition that his time at the club had run out. Thanking everybody from the fans to the behind-the-scenes staff is a nice note to end on.

At a time where it would’ve been difficult to begrudge the former boss if his statement had included any bitter undertone, it comes across as heartfelt and sincere, at a club where he clearly wanted to succeed.

Ultimately, though, the results weren’t good enough. His words have always been his strong suit and when they no longer matched up with what his team were showing on the pitch it was time to go.

The search will now continue for this next Rangers boss, with hopes that whoever emerges as the replacement will be able to provide better days ahead as the club continue to compete both domestically and in Europe this season.
