Graham Spiers shares Rangers ‘balance sheets’ view as 10,000 Ibrox crowds mooted amid Michael Beale sack
Rangers are in a “mess” following the sacking of manager Michael Beale, according to journalist Graham Spiers.
As per the official Rangers website (1 October), the club have parted ways with the boss following their loss to Aberdeen on Saturday (30 October).
Taking over from the departed Beale on an interim basis is midfielder Steven Davis, the club added, with the player to be joined by Alex Rae, Steven Smith, Brian Gilmour and Colin Stewart.
Twitter/X user Roger Paul Mitchell wrote: “I remember Rangers under John Greig. The crowds below 10k. Those days can come back. I don’t think Rangers have a sustainable business model, especially when they promise their customers that they’ll compete with Celtic. That’s a strategy for bankruptcy. I think they’re done.”
Replying on Twitter, Spiers wrote: “I don’t think Rangers are ‘done’ Roger – if by that you mean they are finished. Nor do I believe in my lifetime they will go back to routine 10,000 crowds at Ibrox. But RFC are in a mess and, yes, they must move from being ‘propped-up’ to sound income/costs balance sheets.”

Worrying times?
These may be worrying times for Rangers, with the club currently without a manager, with their fierce rivals Celtic sitting pretty at the top of the league.
The Bhoys are also competing in the Champions League once again, much to the jealousy of the Gers, who have had to settle for a spot in the Europa League.
But this dip is nothing new to the blue half of Glasgow, with the club having been in similarly worrying situations before, indeed not so long ago at all.
It won’t be easy, but an experienced manager in the dugout and some momentum in all competitions will help get things back on track.
Beale has already helped in some form, with the manager guiding the club into the semi-finals of the League Cup, as well as helping get their Europa League group stage campaign off with three points against Spanish side Real Betis.
In other Rangers news, a Gers ace has reacted after Glen Kamara sent a message following his Leeds United full home debut.
