David Edgar shares new Rangers manager update after early talks
David Edgar has shared an update on Rangers’ search for a new manager, following the Light Blues sacking of Michael Beale on Sunday 1 October.
The Ibrox club parted ways with the former QPR man late on Sunday evening following a disappointing start to the season, with the final straw being a miserable 3-1 defeat to Aberdeen on Saturday 30 September.
Beale’s sacking ended his 10-month stay on the blue side of Glasgow and has left Rangers to search for a new manager to attempt to rescue their poor start to the campaign, but Edgar who hosts the Heart & Hand Podcast has said it could take time for the Light Blues to make their next permanent appointment.
He said via Twitter on Sunday (1 October): “Word from the club is that they will take their time over the permanent appointment. Two fixtures and then obviously there’s the international break.”
Get it right
Rangers will have to take their time to ensure that they make the suitable appointment this time, as they really cannot afford to continue what has been a dreadful start to the season for much longer, otherwise, it could be disastrous for the club.
Although the Light Blues have managed to drop points against opposition they would have been expected to beat already this season, no matter who is in charge the Ibrox club will be expected to beat Aris Limassol when they face the Cypriot side in the Europa League.

While their final game before the international break is high-flying St Mirren who currently sit second in the Scottish Premiership, three points above Rangers and so far Steve Robinson’s side are undefeated, so the Gers will be hoping to break that streak, even without a manager in post.
There will be some Rangers fans who are potentially worried about the seeming lack of an immediate contingency plan at Ibrox, given Beale’s position had been so uncertain for so long. You would have thought the Light Blues may have had one or two potential irons in the fire already, in case Beale’s position became untenable.
No matter how long this appointment takes, the Gers have to ensure they get this one right.
