Chris Sutton fires parting shot at Michael Beale following Rangers sacking
Chris Sutton has made sure to fire a final parting shot at Michael Beale, following the news that the Rangers boss had been sacked by the Ibrox club.
The Light Blues’ announced late on Sunday (1 October) evening that they had parted company with the former QPR manager following the poor start to the campaign, with a 3-1 home defeat to Aberdeen on Saturday (30 September) the final straw.
Beale had been under pressure for some time given the Gers’ stuttering start to the season and the amount of investment into his squad over the summer and Sutton has been repeatedly critical of the former Ibrox boss.
Taking to Twitter after the news broke on Sunday (1 October) he posted: “There are some managers that are comedy acts…”
Got a point
Sutton is notorious for being a bit of a wind-up, especially towards Rangers fans, which is demonstrated by a glance at his Twitter account and while he has been incredibly harsh towards Beale, it is hard to argue that there isn’t an element of truth to what he’s saying.
To describe the former Ibrox boss as a “comedy act” may be a step too far, but Beale has been an incredibly frustrating and disappointing leader at Ibrox throughout his tenure and for rival fans, like Sutton, watching him fail can’t have been to different to witnessing a good stand-up show.

Last season Beale earned a little bit of leeway as most were in agreement that he wasn’t managing his own team, however, after the immense turnover at Ibrox this summer, including nine new arrivals, any such forgiveness has long since vanished.
Rangers need to ensure that when they appoint their next manager, no matter how long it takes, they pick the right man to not only turn around results on the pitch but also sort matters off of it, to stop Celtic supporters like Sutton from viewing the Light Blues as a comedy act rather than a serious competitor for the title.
Unless something changes quickly, it is impossible to see the Gers lifting the Scottish Premiership ahead of Brendan Rodgers’ side anytime soon.
