Sky Sports pundit shares ‘serious’ Michael Beale verdict at Rangers as sack decision looms

Kenny Miller has shared his verdict on Michael Beale as a decision is now looming on whether to sack him as Rangers manager.

Writing on the Daily Record website on Sunday (1 October), the Sky Sports pundit said it is “absolutely right” that the Englishman is under “serious pressure” at Ibrox on the back of the 3-1 defeat to Aberdeen on Saturday (30 September).

He added that it “comes with the territory” to be under the microscope at Ibrox, but he isn’t sure now is the right time to get rid of the Light Blues boss.

“It’s absolutely right that Michael is under serious pressure now,” said Miller. “That’s the job he signed up for. It comes with the territory.

“But do they get rid of him now? I’m not so sure. And this isn’t me protecting the manager, far from it. Rangers have only had 18 managers in their history.”

Inexcusable

It’s hard to really justify keeping hold of Beale at this moment in time after some of the results have been completely inexcusable at the start of this season.

The defeat to Aberdeen on Saturday is another one that can be added to that list, alongside the opening-day loss at Kilmarnock and the 5-1 hammering against PSV.

That is without even factoring in the defeat to Celtic last month, with the Hoops now sitting seven points above the Gers after just seven league games.

It looks as though the Viaplay Cup is going to be the best opportunity to win some silverware for Rangers, but reaching the semi-finals of that trophy alone can’t be enough to keep Beale in his job.

If he is to stick around, he simply has to find a way to get the Light Blues playing better football and not allow any more slip-ups over the course of the next few weeks.
