Michael Beale delivers fresh injury update on Rangers ace Kemar Roofe after scan

Michael Beale has delivered an injury update on Rangers striker Kemar Roofe, who was not involved in the clash with Aberdeen on Saturday (30 September).

The 30-year-old suffered a groin injury in his club’s 4-0 Viaplay Cup win over Livingston on Wednesday (27 September).

His manager has now revealed that the player could be available for the Scottish Premiership meeting with St Mirren next Sunday (8 October).

“Fingers crossed he’ll be available again by next weekend,” Beale told BBC Scotland before the match against Aberdeen. “There was nothing significant on the scan.

“Looks like it was a good decision for him to come out. He may not be risked in midweek but he could be back for St Mirren.”

Positive news

Of course it is not great Roofe has suffered yet another injury, with the striker missing a large chunk of last season due to a serious knee issue.

The club did, of course, sign several players in his position in the summer transfer window, which led to plenty of speculation about Roofe’s future at the club.

Beale brought in the likes of Sam Lammers, Danilo and Cyriel Dessers on permanent deals, with Abdallah Sima arriving on loan.

But Roofe has remained at Ibrox, and was keen to prove his worth to his manager, but that has been interrupted with his latest injury.

It’s an unfortunate situation for the experienced striker, who in the early stages of the new season was a key player for the Gers.

He may not have been banging in the goals, but his hold up play and work rate are admirable, and he definitely brings something different to Beale’s side.
