Chris Jack rages at ‘shambolic’ incident in Rangers defeat v Aberdeen
Chris Jack has blasted the Rangers players after an incident that took place in the defeat to Aberdeen on Saturday (30 September).
Writing on the Rangers Review website on Saturday, the journalist said Jack Butland was left “helpless” as Stefan Gartenmann opened the scoring for the Dons in “shambolic fashion” in the first half.
The Danish defender peeled away from Jose Cifuentes and found himself in acres of space at the back post to tap home from a corner into the box, setting the visitors on their way towards picking up a 3-1 victory at Ibrox.

“Over the last couple of weeks, Beale has had his defence to thank for giving Rangers the foundations as St Johnstone, Real Betis, Motherwell and Livingston have been kept at bay and the wins have been recorded,” said Jack.
“Keeper Jack Butland has been an integral part of that process. Yet he was left helpless here as the sequence ended just seven minutes before the interval in rather shambolic fashion.
“Leighton Clarkson’s corner from the far side evaded everyone inside the area apart from the most important man in red. Gartenmann had peeled away at the back post and found himself with all the space he needed after working his way clear of a despairing Cifuentes. The finish was accomplished by the Danish defender.”
Not good enough
The defending for the opening goal was absolutely shocking from Rangers after they had actually started the game reasonably well prior to that mistake.
Cifuentes let his man go far too easily and the defender simply couldn’t miss as he swept the ball home past Butland, who had no chance whatsoever.
From that moment onwards, it became an extremely difficult afternoon for the Gers and they couldn’t recover from that setback.

It will be frustrating for Beale to have seen his defence undone so easily after they had kept four clean sheets in a row prior to this weekend.
It’s so far unknown whether the Light Blues boss will get the opportunity to remain in his post, but if he does, he will want to ensure his side tighten things up again at the back.
In other Rangers news, a journalist has shared a “serious” Beale verdict as a sack decision looms at Ibrox.
