Michael Beale ‘is going to be sacked’ after ‘hapless’ Rangers beaten by Aberdeen at Ibrox – Graham Spiers
Michael Beale “cannot survive” after Rangers were beaten at home by Aberdeen to break their winning run, with the manager now set to be sacked, according to Graham Spiers.
The journalist reacted to the 3-1 defeat at Ibrox immediately via his personal Twitter account to denounce the “hapless football” that the Gers played on Saturday (30 September).
Beale has been under major pressure since losing the Old Firm derby before the international break (3 September), but had put together four straight wins prior to the Dons match, although dropping further points on Celtic had already been widely tipped to lose him his job.
Spiers wrote: “A brilliant win for Aberdeen at Ibrox – perhaps the catalyst for Barry Robson’s season. Michael Beale is going to be sacked – he cannot survive this hapless football from Rangers.”
Inevitable?
Beale simply had to keep winning, even if the manner of some were still bringing fury raining down on him from the Ibrox stands anyway, and he hasn’t done it.
Had he managed to scrape together results all the way into December he might have been able to save himself by lifting the League Cup and then getting a result in the next meeting with Celtic.
Surely that chance is now gone, with the Hoops’ late victory at Motherwell earlier in the day now stretching the gap to seven points between the Glasgow rivals.

Beale’s failure to win a trophy last season or get a meaningful derby win used up some patience but he was given the benefit of the doubt after taking over a struggling season part-way through.
But after being backed in the transfer market this summer, only to lose the opener to Kilmarnock, have the Champions League group stage door slammed in his face with a 5-1 defeat at PSV Eindhoven, and then lose to Celtic again, put him on the brink.
But if he isn’t even keeping it tight in the other fixtures he now barely has a leg to stand on, with his side so often struggling to perform.
It looks to be just a matter of time now as Rangers look like they are set for a managerial change before Christmas for the third year running.
In other Rangers news, with a star man tipped for a Premier League move the club can no longer afford to let an unhappy player leave.
