Cyriel Dessers could face brutal Rangers half-time axe after first half struggles v Aberdeen

Cyriel Dessers could be hooked by manager Michael Beale at half-time of the match between Rangers and Aberdeen.

The Gers are hosting the Dons at Ibrox in the Scottish Premiership on Saturday (30 September), with the visitors leading 1-0 at the break through Stefan Gartenmann.

The best chances of the opening 45 minutes for the hosts undoubtedly fell to Cyriel Dessers, but he could not find the back of the net despite his best efforts.

The summer signing could now be facing the axe from his boss after his failures to score. As per SofaScore, he registered one shot on target and one shot off it. Moreover, the forward won 0% of his ground duels (0/2).

Both Gers manager Michael Beale and Aberdeen boss Barry Robson were under plenty of pressure going into this clash at Ibrox.

The Dons have been very poor so far this season, and they will find it continuously difficult given how they also have European football to contend with. That will, of course, excite fans, with HJK up next in the Europa Conference League on Thursday (5 October).

That home European tie under the lights will be a superb occasion for the supporters, but at the same time they will be worried about their future in the Scottish Premiership.

Of course it is still very early days, but things haven’t gone to plan so far domestically, although it could all change with a positive result at Ibrox.

Beale meanwhile has endured some difficult results this season, and it seems that his side must simply keep on winning in order to keep decreasing the pressure on the manager.
