Rangers: Michael Beale provides fresh update on fitness of Nicolas Raskin and Kieran Dowell

Rangers manager Michael Beale has revealed that Kieran Dowell is “back out in very light training” and Nicolas Raskin “back with the rehab team” as both players close in on a return to action.

Dowell has not featured for the Gers since the 2-2 draw with PSV on 22 August due to a knee injury, while Raskin has spent the past two weeks on the sidelines with a calf problem.

Neither player will feature in this weekend’s meeting with Aberdeen, but they could be back on the pitch before the international break in October.

Beale provided the update on the duo’s fitness at his pre-match press conference on Friday [29 September], as per Rangers’ Twitter account, while also confirming Kemar Roofe is to undergo a scan on the knock he sustained against Livingston in midweek.

No risks

Beale has had to contend with plenty of injury problems in the opening couple of months of the season, with the likes of Danilo, Tom Lawrence, Todd Cantwell and Rabbi Matondo among others facing spells out of varying lengths.

The good news is that Dowell and Raskin certainly appear to be closing in on a return to first-team action.

Rangers

Rangers follow up the Scottish Premiership clash with Aberdeen at Ibrox on Saturday [30 September] with games against Aris Limassol and St Mirren over the following week.

In an ideal world, both Dowell and Raskin will be available for squad selection for one or both of those matches.

Beale will not take any unnecessary risks, though, and it may well be that they are not used again until Hibernian visit after the international break on 21 October.

In other Rangers news, a pundit has shared a “concerning” incident he saw in the Gers’ win over Livingston.
