Chris Jack shares Ibrox redevelopment plans that ‘could transform’ Rangers

Rangers are looking to roll out safe standing as part of the redevelopment of Ibrox, according to journalist Chris Jack.

In an article for Rangers Review on Friday [29 September], Jack outlined how the multi-million-pound plans “could transform the stadium”.

It is claimed Rangers have commenced a feasibility study into a safe standing area in a project that is being overseen by chairman John Bennett.

Exciting times

The plans to redevelop Ibrox and the club’s Auchenhowie training facility are certainly exciting, as is this latest development in particular.

Proposals were first put forward at a fan forum last year and it appears things have now ramped up a notch or two.

Gers chief executive James Bisgrove said earlier this week that more details on the enhancements to Ibrox will be released soon.

The hope is that Ibrox’s capacity will be increased to around 51,500, with work already signed off on upgrading the disabled facilities.

Certain aspects of the redevelopment work will get going next summer, but it is not known when – or if – work will begin on the safe standing area.

Either way, these developments certainly point towards an exciting future.

In other Rangers news, Michael Beale has confirmed a previously injured first-team player is now back training.
