Kenny Miller wowed by Ridvan Yilmaz live on BBC in Rangers win v Livingston
Kenny Miller was left blown away as Ridvan Yilmaz smashed home his “incredible” second-half strike for Rangers in the 4-0 win against Livingston.
Speaking live on BBC Sportscene (27 September), the pundit was blown away by the 22-year-old’s solo effort to put the Gers 2-0 up in the 66th minute at Ibrox.
In the League Cup quarter-final clash, the Turkish international received the ball well inside Rangers’ half, before carrying it the length of the pitch, evading Livingston players along the way, and poking it home with a powerful strike just outside the box.
Miller said: “It’s an incredible goal from Ridvan Yilmaz.
“He travels 60 yards from well inside his own half.”
Sensational effort
Michael Beale was in desperate need of a big win on Thursday. Continued anger from the fanbase and pressure from the hierarchy above left him in a precarious position.
While not out of the woods yet, his side’s emphatic 4-0 victory secured them a place in the League Cup semi-final, and Yilmaz’s sensational effort was the pick of the bunch.
Abdallah Sima got himself on the scoresheet twice, with his first curling effort opening the score, while Ryan Jack closed this happy chapter of recent Rangers history with a pin-point strike straight into the bottom left corner in the closing minutes of the clash.
However, Yilmaz may have scored a goal-of-the-season contender from the left-back position. The former Besiktas man is not a scorer of many goals. In fact, this was his first goal in Rangers colours, netting his last during his time in the Super Lig in the 2021/22 season [Transfermarkt].
If he only ever scored one goal in his Rangers career, a superb solo slaloming run under the lights in an electric win at Ibrox is not a bad way to go about it.
In other Rangers news, four senior players could leave Ibrox next summer.
