Rangers loanee Alex Lowry on ‘different schedule’ to ‘KO’ Kilmarnock with ‘clever’ goal
Rangers loanee Alex Lowry knocked out Kilmarnock with a “clever” goal for temporary club Hearts, according to Daily Record journalist Ross Pilcher.
Lowry scored a 92nd-minute winner for the Edinburgh outfit in their League Cup quarter-final clash with Kilmarnock on Tuesday (26 September).
With the game heading for extra-time at 1-1, the midfielder turned expertly in the box before placing the ball into the net.

“It looked like we’d need an extra half-an-hour to try and decide this one, until Lowry intervened,” Pilcher wrote for the Daily Record (26 September).
“It was a case of after you in the Killie box before Liam Boyce eventually fed the ball back to the Rangers loanee, and he took a clever touch before placing the ball into the corner to send his team to Hampden.
“The late introduction of Lowry and Boyce was probably with extra-time in mind. But the pair were on a different schedule and combined to KO Killie in the most dramatic of circumstances.”

Drama
Lowry’s late show will have pleased many onlookers, not least his Hearts teammates and manager Stephen Naismith, who like Gers boss Beale has been under plenty of pressure lately.
The victory over Kilmarnock will definitely help ease that pressure, and the man in the dugout really has the Ibrox youngster to thank.
Of course it was the manager himself who decided to bring the loanee on, so he definitely also deserves plenty of credit.
Lowry had been on the pitch for just a minute before his dramatic intervention, having replaced Kenneth Vargas in the 91st minute at Rugby Park.
But perhaps also taking notice of the goal will have been Lowry’s permanent manager Beale, who could certainly do with such a player in his team, particularly if the poor results start to come back for the Ibrox club.
The current players, however, have the chance to impress their boss when they take on Livingston in the same round of the competition on Wednesday (27 September).
In other Rangers news, a BBC journalist has shared a “relief” verdict after the club’s 1-0 win against Motherwell.
