Chris Sutton reacts to Rangers controversy v Livingston with SFA jibe
Chris Sutton has shared a dig at Rangers after Abdallah Sima scored in the ViaPlay Cup semi-final win against Livingston, questioning whether their opponents would demand answers from the Scottish FA.
This comment comes after the Ibrox club wanted answers over their disallowed goal against Celtic in the Old Firm Derby which saw Cyriel Dessers penalised for a soft foul [STV, 4 September].
This time around, Sima appeared to push the defender over before breaking onto the ball and curling an effort home, but no foul was given, prompting Sutton to have his say.
Sutton took to Twitter to share his view, writing: “I wonder if Livingston will demand answers from the SFA for the Sima goal…” with the former Celtic man clearly making an attempt to wind up his old rivals.
It was a questionable decision
Even the staunchest of Rangers supporters would probably be inclined to agree the foul was soft. A clear hand on the back sent the defender sprawling while Sima used his abundance of pace to storm into the box.
Take nothing away from the finish though, it was an absolute beauty. Cutting in on his right foot before curling a peach into the opposite top corner, it was an unstoppable effort and one fans will remember for a while to come.

Sutton’s attempts to wind up Rangers supporters should simply be passed off as sly comments. At the end of the day, he’s watching Rangers make their way through a tournament Celtic already find themselves out of.
The Celtic claims are in the past now, almost a month has gone by and Rangers fans’ frustrations have finally begun to die down and will be all but forgotten if they can go on to win the League Cup. The Celtic clash was one that upped the pressure on Michael Beale, who is taking steps to undo those frustrations.
In other Rangers news, Neil Warnock has shared his take on being linked with the Gers job.
