Rabbi Matondo ruled out for six weeks ahead of Rangers clash v Livingston
Rangers will be without Rabbi Matondo for around six weeks after he picked up a knee injury, ruling him out of the cup quarter-final with Livingston.
The Gers are already without Kieran Dowell, Todd Cantwell, Danilo and Nicolas Raskin for several weeks through injury and the Wales international will now join them on the sidelines for the foreseeable future.
Michael Beale’s assistant Neil Banfield took the press conference ahead of the game at Ibrox, and revealed the squad are ready to go despite the injury worries.
“Rabbi (Matondo) looks like six weeks with his knee,” he said. “We have built this squad and will be ready to go tomorrow.”
Blow
Rangers are finally starting to look as though they are finding their best shape and form, and it includes more pace on the wings than previously.
Abdallah Sima has been good and Matondo’s game-changing speed has been a big reason for the recent turn in form, but now the team will have to find a new way to beat teams.

Cyriel Dessers, Sam Lammers, Kemar Roofe, Sima and Scott Wright are all still available in attack and this is a real chance for them to show they’re capable of making an impact on the squad in the absence of others.
Matondo has done well to fight back from the brink of a summer exit to become an important part of the manager’s plans, but fitness has been an issue of his since his arrival.
We’ll now be without him for a while, but hopefully the club can find an alternative and win comfortably to head to Hampden Park in the cup.
