Sky Sports journalist shares what ‘agitated’ Rangers fans did v Motherwell at Ibrox

Rangers fans were “clearly agitated” during the club’s match against Motherwell, according to Sky Sports journalist Laura Hunter.

The Gers won the Scottish Premiership clash at Ibrox on Sunday (24 September) 1-0 thanks to a goal from Cyriel Dessers.

The three points mean Michael Beale’s side move to third place in the table, with four wins and two losses from their six matches so far.

“There were rumbles of discontent throughout the game in Glasgow, with supporters clearly agitated by yet another lacklustre Gers display,” Hunter wrote for Sky Sports (24 September).

“The smattering of boos could be heard above those who chose to applaud the narrow victory inside Ibrox, which sent Rangers above Motherwell into third place, four points behind leaders Celtic.”

Divided opinion

There may just be division in the Rangers camp following the club’s latest victory, with fans perhaps looking at the situation in different ways.

Some supporters will undoubtedly be frustrated and worried at the disappointing display against Motherwell, even if it did result in three points.

Those Gers supporters will be wanting more from their attackers, particularly given how the game took place at Ibrox.

But there may be other fans who will have viewed the game as a tough test after Motherwell’s impressive start to the season.

Moreover, they will understand that Beale’s men will have been tired after their superb effort in the Europa League against Real Betis on Thursday (21 September).

Manager Beale meanwhile may have a foot in both camps, with the boss set to be annoyed at the display, but pleased with an important three points and a confidence-boosting clean sheet as the man in the dugout looks to ease the pressure on his shoulders.
