Pundit slams Rangers midfielder Jose Cifuentes for what he did this week
Barry Ferguson has slammed Rangers midfielder Jose Cifuentes for the performance against Real Betis in the Europa League.
While he said that these are early days and he shouldn’t be written off, he feels that he struggled with the tempo of the clash.
The 24-year-old Ecuador international moved to Ibrox this summer for LAFC despite an agreement reached for him to join at the end of the year.

Ferguson told Go Radio, “I thought Cifuentes struggled if I am being honest, I thought he struggled with the pace of the game. Is it the travel or whatever?
“I still think we have yet to see the best of him. You want to see more, he got caught on the ball a few times and kind of drifted out of the game a bit. I still think there’s a player in him, I have seen plenty enough of him, heard people speak about him. He’s strong, powerful, he can handle the ball. But we have still not seen enough of him yet in a Rangers jersey.”
Will get better
It’s evident that the style of football he’s been accustomed to is far more different than what’s been played at Ibrox.
The games in the UK are faster and more physical and the quality of players are also grades above the MLS.

Cifuentes is undoubtedly talented and will come good even though his time at Ibrox thus far has been underwhelming.
At the end of the day, he’s a Michael Beale signing so the Scotsman must now look to get the best out of him.
It seems like the manager is still deciding on what his best midfield is and it’s important that he finds the right balance.
It’s clear that Cifuentes is to play regularly, he’s got to improve his performances as soon as possible and help Gers close the gap on Celtic.
In other Rangers news, a never-seen-before player was spotted in Gers training on Monday amid a recent international development.
