Rangers: Ally McCoist stunned by what he saw Rabbi Matondo do v Real Betis live on TNT Sports
Ally McCoist hailed the “amazing” turn of pace shown by Rangers forward Rabbi Matondo during the impressive 1-0 win over Real Betis.
Matondo proved a menace for Betis at times as the Gers battled to victory in their Europa League opener at Ibrox on Thursday [21 September].
The Welshman went on a mazy run in the second half that saw him beat a number of players, before getting a shot away that deflected behind.

McCoist was commentating on the game for TNT Sports and said, via BBC’s live blog [21 September, 21:26]: “That was amazing. A great run.”
“I just wonder what it’s like to have Matondo’s pace. Wow!”
Lightning quick
Matondo’s Ibrox career has well and truly taken off this season after a rather indifferent maiden campaign in Glasgow.
The 23-year-old is now making his presence felt in games, as was the case against Betis, even if he did not manage to score himself.
But that is an aspect Matondo is adding to his game, having scored in the win over St Johnstone last weekend to make it two goals in eight games this term.

He squandered a big early chance against Betis, with that the type of opportunity he has to stick away if he is to take the next step in his career.
There is no doubt that Matondo’s pace is a great weapon for Michael Beale to have in his arsenal, and we can expect him to start more often than not when on form.
As for McCoist’s comment, he needn’t worry – he is not alone in wondering just what it is like to be as speedy as Matondo in full flow.
