Ben Davies and Tom Lawrence axed – Rangers Predicted XI v Motherwell

Michael Beale is likely to make a couple of changes to his Rangers starting lineup for their SPFL clash against Motherwell on Sunday.

The light blues picked up a vital win over Real Betis in the Europa League group stages on Thursday, a result which helped ease the pressure on the boss after a tough start to the campaign.

But with injuries and lots of games coming up, he’s likely to freshen things up a little for the game at Ibrox to keep momentum up and try to close the gap at the top of the table.

Jack Butland continued to show that he is the rightful heir to Allan McGregor’s throne in goal and will keep his place despite competition from Robby McCrorie.

James Tavernier and Connor Goldson continue to be first-choice on the right hand side of the defence, while Borna Barisic returned in midweek for the first time in a month and put in a strong performance which should see him keep his place ahead of Ridvan Yilmaz.

Ben Davies has come into the side recently and started alongside Goldson but after two games in five days, Beale is more likely to call upon John Souttar after his excellent start to the campaign for this one.

John Lundstram is looking more like the man who was key under Giovanni van Bronckhorst this season and should keep his place ahead of Ryan Jack in the absence of Nicolas Raskin through injury, while Jose Cifuentes continues to look to cement himself after his arrival in the summer transfer window.

Kieran Dowell, Danilo and Todd Cantwell remain out injured for this game but the boss still has plenty of options.

The pace of Rabbi Matondo and Abdallah Sima out wide was key to beating Betis, with the Senegal international getting the winner after a goal-mouth scramble and they should both be confident of getting the nod in attack again.

Kemar Roofe has found fitness once more and seems to be one of Beale’s go-to selections up front so he should start again.

And alongside him it’s a shootout between summer arrivals Cyriel Dessers and Sam Lammers, with the Dutch ace better at linking the play meaning he should get the nod and opportunity to make an impact once more.

In other Rangers news, a journalist was absolutely raging after what he saw in the win over Real Betis.
