Keith Jackson: Michael Beale 'bewildered' as Rangers prediction made

Michael Beale is “bewildered” at what his strongest Rangers starting lineup should look like, according to Keith Jackson.

Writing on page 49 of the Daily Record’s print edition on Thursday (21 September), the journalist said the Gers manager’s new signings are “complicating the matter” as a number of them have underperformed during their first few games at Ibrox.

He added that the Englishman might “settle for a point” and predicted a 1-1 draw against Real Betis on Thursday (21 September), meaning that it would be “no further damage done” after an unconvincing start to the season.

“Trouble is, Beale still seems a bit bewildered at what his strongest starting XI should look like,” said Jackson. “And his underperforming new signings are further complicating the matter.

“He might settle for a point with no further damage done.”

Need a result

It’s pretty clear that Beale isn’t sure on what his first-choice starting lineup should be after he has been chopping and changing throughout the early stages of the season.

There have been a lot of games to contend with, but there hasn’t been much consistency as a number of the new arrivals try and get used to life in Glasgow.

It’s down to the Light Blues boss to find a way for them to play together in the big matches and there’s no better place to start than against Real Betis.

The Gers really need to pick up a result, not just to relieve some of the pressure Beale is under, but also to hand them a much-needed confidence boost.

It could be a cagey affair as neither side have had the best start to the campaign, so perhaps Jackson’s prediction of a 1-1 draw might not be too far off the mark.
